There Are Two of Me -at least- by sick-snowangel There Are Two of Me -at least- by sick-snowangel
i never know about titles...these don't really have a all-encompassing title...but yeah....i think the word bipolarama is humourous

2 panel painting...each panel is 3' x 4'

Definitely challenging and fun to paint two canvases and maintain the unity. Very cool techniques in the drips.

I am not a fan of abstract art, but this is one of the most beautiful and intriguing things I have ever seen. So many emotions are being conveyed; I feel like crying and laughing at the same time when I look at this. It's incredible and definitely going into my favorites.

once again, amazing work. I love ur use of color..and for some reason when i think of bipolorama, i think of a bowling lane..how weird am i?

anyway, what was i gonna say..oh yea-the circles: did u do that after ur dripping frenzy of awesomeness? Basically, your work is what i WISH my work would be. Because I have the same experimentation sessions, just w/ crappy results!

Oh wow.

I love so many of your things, but this one I think is my favorite.

May I inquire as to what techniques you use to get those effects? :]

nothing special....just really runny paint and a decent amount of patience...some palette knife use and dragging ink around with a stick

I'm floored. And ceilinged. I can relate so very very much, as I've seen my bipolarity in front of my eyes in just such paintings, in a portrait of my closest friend, the girl I love, I suppose, the 3rd in my "Nil" series, and 4th. The third is a dyptic portrait of her, and I'll post the photo I took of her, and used in the painting. It's a loosely cubistic style painting, the dominant colors being neon, olive greens, dark, dull purples. And it parallels to her own art, the only artist I've ever been able to do art with harmoniously, and she's been doing many many self portraits on brown paper in oil pastels, and she abstracts her face into these menageries of beauty and cubist blocking of shapes, just like my painting. And we swapped souls sort of, for a week or so, and she became my alterego, and the only recognizable image in the painting is her face, abstracted the furthest I've ever been able to. And the second is an accidental self-portrait in murky, dull reds and yellows, milky blues and whites. Somehow I resembled a mole, a mole I'd once accidentally drowned when I was 6 and wondered if it could swim. And drama has been going down between her and I, tragic drama involving intense lucid dreaming to the point of nightmares. I'll elaborate in a message if you want.

Love and let love,

-M

Really interesting use of textures here.

I like how you've been able to use many different colours individually, without them bleeding together too much. It creates a lot of depth taht sort of communicates a great emotional scope, you know?

I love what the title infers, also. It's nice to ponder. Simple, yet very meaningful.

I love it :)
